Mozambique officially the Republic of Mozambique is a country in Southeast Africa bordered by Indian Ocean on its east. Neighboring countries of Mozambique are Tanzania to the north, Malawi and Zambia to northwest, Zimbabwe to the west, Swaziland and South Africa to the southwest. Maputo is the capital city of Mozambique. It is separated from Madagascar by Mozambique Channel. Earlier resident of Mozambique are Bantu speaking people and later in Arab people also settled on the region. Vasco da Gamma was the first European explorer to travel Island of Mozambique in 1498 and later the area was colonized by Portuguese. Mozambique got its independence in the year 1975. The vast majority are of Bantu speaking people. Population of Mozambique is twenty four million and Christianity is the major religion of the country. Official language of Mozambique is Portuguese. Economy of Mozambique is largely base on agriculture and industry. Mozambique got strong trade relations with South Africa. Tourism is also an important derivative of economy.
